Most Memorable Day
Limited Edition Print | Five Signatures
Robert Taylor captures a dramatic chapter in the wartime career of General Adolf Galland in this remarkable aviation artwork.
The scene recalls Galland's personal account of aerial combat over northern France at noon on June 21, 1941, alongside his wingman Bruno Hegenauer.
During two missions that day, Galland claimed two Bristol Blenheim bombers and a Spitfire. He survived both a forced crash-landing and a dramatic parachute escape from his burning Me 109.
That evening, Galland learned he was to become the first recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves and Swords, one of Nazi Germany's highest military decorations.
