Eagles Prey

Limited Edition Print No. 1031/1250 | Seven Signatures

During the perilous years of 1940–1941, hundreds of American volunteers joined the Royal Air Force (RAF) to help defend England against Nazi Germany. As the United States remained neutral, these courageous Americans volunteered as civilians before America entered the war.

The volunteers were quickly organized into three fighter squadrons, collectively known as the Eagle Squadrons: No. 71, No. 121 and No. 133 Squadron.

This dramatic print by renowned aviation artist Robert Taylor depicts American Eagle Squadron pilots flying Mk Vb Spitfires over France in 1941. Having just downed a German Me 109, the pilots must race back toward the English Channel before their fuel runs critically low.
