P-51 mustang, Glamorous Glen III, flown by one of aviation’s best known pilots, Chuck Yeager. He achieved most of his aerial victories due in part to his blessed, exceptional, 20/10 vision. Yeager had eyes that could “see forever.” He combined this advantage with cunning, concentration, relentless ferocity and superb piloting skills to rack up a final total of 12.5 aerial victories —including five Me109s on 12 October and four FW 190s on 27 November. On this day in October 1944 chuck Yeager, together with pilots of the 357th fighter group, head out of Leiston in Suffolk, for escort duty to an 8th Air Force bombing mission to Germany.

This is part of Battle of Britain Aces Collection. Bobby Oxspring destroys an Me109 of JF/53 Ace of Spades group in a high level attack over Dover, 18 September 1940. For this and others actions he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross (DFC).

In September, 1940, Flight Lieutenant Oxspring was engaged on an offensive patrol with his squadron. Whilst acting as rear guard, he sighted and engaged several Messerschmitt 109's 3,000 feet above. After driving them off, he led his section in an attack against a large formation of enemy bombers and succeeded in destroying a Dornier 17 at short range and also in damaging two Heinkel III's.

Marine Ace Captain Joe Foss leads a flight of eight F4F Wildcats of VMF 121, based on Henderson Field, Guadalcanal, in a diversionary attack on the Imperial Japanese Battlecruiser Hiei, North of Savo Island, Friday November 13, 1942. In the Distance TBF Avenger torpedo bombers of VMSB-131, having already attacked from the starboard side, head for base. That evening, after relentless air attack, the Hiei disappeared forever beneath the sea- the first Japanese battleship sunk by American forces in World War II.

Robert Taylor’s famous painting portrays Spitfires of the Tangmere Wing flying a southerly course towards the Pas de Calais and doubtless another engagement with Adolf Galland’s ‘Abbeville Boys’. The glorious colors of sunrise glint on the sleek fighters as they streak out over the early morning cumulus clouds. The painting depicts a peaceful prelude to what will inevitably become an intense dogfight for the younger pilots and takes its unusual name from the witty message chalked up on one of the Wing’s notice boards – ‘Bader’s Bus Company – daily tickets to the Continent – Return tickets only!’. Every time the mercurial Wing Leader crossed the French coast he would announce: "Bader’s Bus Company on time".

Wing Commander Bob Stanford-Tuck in his Spitfire Mk.Vb leads the Biggin Hill Wing on a fighter sweep over northern France, early 1942. Almost as soon as the aircraft leave the ground their undercarriage is retracted in order to gain height as quickly as possible.

Biggin Hill was one of the most active RAF Fighter bases during WWII, at times as many as seven or eight sorties per day would scramble at the height of the Battle of Britain.

A flight of Kittyhawks of No. 3 Squadron Royal Australian Air Force on a strike mission over the North African Desert in January 1942, in the build-up to the Battle of Alamein. No. 3 Squadron RAAF was the first in the desert to achieve 100 confirmed victories, and continuing in combat throughout the fighting in North Africa, became the squadron with the highest number of air victories of the Desert Air Force squadrons.

On 18th April 1942 Lt. Colonel James H. Doolittle carried the Battle of the Pacific to the heart of the Japanese Empire when he led 16 B-25 Mitchells in a daring raid on military targets at Tokyo, Yokohama, Yokosuka, Nagoya, and Kobe. Having launched from the USS Hornet and circled the aircraft carrier, Jimmy Doolittle is seen making an overhead pass checking his compass heading, as other B-25s follow him into the air. All aircraft reached their target, thus the long-term strategic implications of the heroic raid proved immensely important to the outcome of the war in the Pacific. Doolittle received the Medal of Honor from President Franklin D. Roosevelt at the White House for planning and leading his raid on Japan.

American Eagle Pilots of 71 Squadron R.A.F Scramble their Mk Vb Spitfires Summer of 1941. Under American Law, in 1940 it was illegal for United States citizens to join the armed forces of foreign nations and yet many hundreds of Americans volunteered to fly with the RAF and RCIF, in fact they even formed their own squadrons- The Eagle Squadrons.

This print while available individually it is part of the Battle of Britain Aces Collection. It shows Denys Gillam, flying a 312SQN. Hurricane shooting down a JU88 as he takes off from Speke on 8 October, 1940. Dennis Gillam saw action in France and over Dunkirk flying Hurricanes with 616 Squadron. In the Battle of Britain his squadron destroyed six JU87 Stukas on a single day. Among Gillam’s many combat successes was the fastest air victory of the war. Gillam later commanded 615 Sqn then the first Typhoon Wing, taking part in the D-Day landings and the drive across Europe.

This print while available individually is part of the Battle of Britain Aces Collection. This prints shows Don Kingaby, flying a 266 SQN. Spitfire as he severely damages a JU88 over the Spithead in his first combat on 12 August, 1940.

Born in London on 7th January 1920. Joined the RAFVR in April 1939 at the age of 20. He flew a Mk.I Spitfire with No.266 Squadron during the initial stages of the Battle of Britain, claiming as damaged two Ju88s and an Me110. He then joined No.92 Squadron in September 1940, claiming 4 aircraft (including 3 Me109s) in October, then 6 more Me109s in November 1940, including 4 in a single day on the 15th. He claimed a further 12 victories during 1941, before joining No.111 Sqn and No.64 Sqn in March and April 1942 correspondingly. He later joined No.122 Squadron, and was promoted to lead the Hornchurch wing in March 1943. On D-Day, he claimed the final addition to his total, sharing in the destruction of an Me109. He was the only RAF pilot to be awarded three DFMs, and scored a total of 23 victories and 8 probables.

General Adolf Galland leads the JG26 fighter Wing ME109’s on an early morning patrol over the Pas de Calais, 1941.  Adolf Dolf Josef Ferdinand Galland (19 March 1912- 9 February 1996) was a German Luftwaffe General and flying ace who served throughout the Second World War in Europe. He flew 705 Combat Missions and fought on the Western Front and in the Defense of the Reich. On four occasions, he survived being shot down, and was credited with 104 aerial victories, all of them against the Western Allies.

The Halifax four-engined heavy bomber flew no less than 75,000 operational sorties in World War II and together with the Lancaster formed the backbone of RAF Bomber Command. More than 6,000 Halifaxes came off the assembly lines of Handley Page and other companies sharing in the production. At the height of Britain’s bomber offensive against Germany, the Hallifax comprised 40 percent of the strength of the RAF Bomber Command.

August 17th, 1943 Colonel Curtis LeMay leads 147 B-17s of the American 8th Air Force's 4th Wing from their British bases to bomb the Messerschmitt factory at Regensburg and the bearing factories at Schweinfurt. Robert Taylor reconstructs the scene as badly damaged B-17s of the 91st and 381st Bomb Group battle their way home over the Antwerp area of Holland. A Messerschmitt Me109 makes a high speed attack, while above, another prepares to dive through the formation.

High above, now out of ammunition and low on fuel but with 17 confirmed victories, Hub Zemke's 56th Fighter Group P-47s contrail their way out of the area. Meanwhile, Johnnie Johnson takes up the fight, diving his Spitfires into the fray as the RAF take up where the 56th left off.

At 10:30 on the morning of 26th May, 1941, a lone Catalina of 209 Squadron rediscovers the mighty German battleship Bismarck- pride of the Kriegsmarine- which had eluded the Royal Navy for more than 32 hours. Heavy flak surrounds the Catalina as she signals the position of the Bismarck- some 700 miles west of Brest- to the Admiralty. The following day, confronted by the Royal Navy battleships King George V and Rodney, supported by 2 cruisers, the Bismarck was sunk during one of the epic actions of modern naval warfare.

Gunther Rall leads the FW190 pilots of JG-300 into combat on their last day of action in World War Two. By wars end, General Rall had flown over 800 missions with a total of 275 victories with all but two on the Russian front, and had been awarded the Knight’s Cross with oak leaves and swords. This being the second highest military award in the Third Reich at the time of the presentation. He survived the war as the third ranked ace in the entire world.

Robert Taylor’s Battle of the Nile shows the battle at approximately 1800 hours after Nelson’s fleet had solidly engaged the French. The ships depicted in the painting are as follows. The ship to the extreme left is the Goliath; you then see the stern of two french ships, the most prominent of which is the Conquerant (with mast down) and ahead of the Conquerant is the Guerrier (with mast showing). In the middle of the painting is Nelson’s ship Vanguard which, having just fired a broadside at Conquerant, is about to engage the French Ship Spartiate (the bow of which is seen on the extreme right of the painting). The small boats prominent in the picture convey the fact that the French fleet were caught unawares; many of the crews had been passing between ships and some running ashore and as soon as Nelson’s fleet arrived there was a scramble of small boats endeavoring to get their crews back onboard to engage the British. The battle ensued throughout the night and the following morning saw 11 French men of war either destroyed or taken. Although Nelson’s fleet suffered a certain amount of damage, there were no losses to the ships. The result of this famous victory was that Nelson regained control of the Mediterranean, severing the link between France and napoleon’s army in Egypt, thus thwarting Napoleon’s plans to capture Egypt and invade India.

Dawn Patrol portrays Major Billy Bishop and the pilots of 85 Squadron as they climb their SE5A fighters into the cool morning sunlight above the fields of Northern France on June 16, 1918 in search of enemy aircraft. Climbing his flight of SE5A's to 8000 feet above Armentieres, Northern France. He located and destroyed one enemy aircraft and followed this some eight minutes later by destroying a second. Billy Bishop a Canadian ended WWI with an incredible 72 victories and earned the Victoria Cross for gallantry achieving three victories while attacking an enemy airfield at dawn.

The Royal Navy launched the first ship-to-ship naval air attack in history, employing 21 Fairey Swordfish biplane torpedo bombers from the aircraft carrier HMS ILLUSTRIOUS. This attack was against the Italian Fleet in the harbor at Taranto, Italy November 11, 1940. Just before midnight, the first of two waves of biplanes, swept down on the anchorage at Taranto. The first two aircraft dropped flares to illuminate and backlight the Italian ships in the harbor. Close behind them came more Swordfish dropping torpedoes and bombs. In just over an hour the attackers sank or severely damaged three of the battleships, two cruisers, two destroyers, and assorted other targets. Two of the Swordfish were shot down by anti-aircraft fire. In the House of Commons, Prime Minister Winston Churchill proclaimed that the loss to Italy of half its battleships “affects decisively the balance of naval power in the Mediterranean.”

Having shot down one Ju47, Frank Carey turns his 43 Squadron Hurricane into attack a second, during an attack on a huge formation of enemy aircraft over Selsey Bill, on 16 August 1940. Frank Carey accounted for four enemy aircraft during the attack. By wars end he had been credited with 23 enemy aircraft shot down, six shared destroyed, four unconfirmed destroyed, seven probable, two destroyed on the ground and ten damaged. Of the 23 credited destroyed in air combat, 15 were German and 8 Japanese.

The only bomber to fly throughout the war, the incredible Barnes Wallis Wellington - nicknamed 'the Wimpy' bore the brunt of Bomber Command's operations in the early part of the war. This rugged aircraft is portrayed by Robert Taylor on its way to Germany as part of one of the large scale raids in 1943. Wellington X HE-475 coded KW-E, failed to return from this bombing raid against Manehim. Sadly two of the five crew members were killed. Three others survived and became POW’s.

Published in 1980 this rare print shows Wellingtons of 425 Squadron RCAF, with the aircraft KW - E and KW - N clearly shown. Wellington X HE-475 coded KW-E. This superb prints carry the rare original signature of FLt/Lt Bill Townsend who passed away in April 1991. These were the only prints he signed personally.

This print is depicting Col. Hub Zemke and members of his famous 56th Fighter Group breaking off to defend a stricken B-17 from attack by German aircraft. While under Zemke's command, the 56th FG destroyed over 500 of the eventual 665.5 German aircraft the group was credited with destroying in World War II, and he himself claimed shot down 15.25 of those. Gabby Gabreski with 34.5 victories, Robert Johnson with 28 victories, and the Walker Bud Mahurin who shot down 21 German aircraft.
